Chris Eyton-Jones - Gold Dragon AwardChris Eyton-Jones from Keele Scout Network was presented with his Gold Dragon Award at the County AGM by the County Commissioner. The Dragon Awards are organised by ScoutsWales but can be achieved by Scouts, Explorers, Scout Network members, and even Leaders, outside of Wales. There are 3 Awards – Bronze, Silver and Gold, and each take at least one year to complete them. Chris has managed to complete all three awards!

All you have to do is camp one night a month under canvas or bivvy for a year to get the Bronze Award. The nights don’t have to be all in one year and you can count camps held since January 1998. For Silver and Gold, again you have to camp one night a month for a year but you need to complete a challenge for each from a list of activities. These include camp at a District campsite, as part of an incident hike, at least 2 metres above the ground, above 600 metres, and at 1 degree centigrade or below.
