Thank you all for your continued patience over the last few months whilst we managed the very important task of selecting your next County Commissioner for Staffordshire. Both the County Chair and I are exceptionally grateful to everyone who has continued to ensure that Scouting for young people carries on brilliantly across the County whilst this important appointment was being considered.
I am delighted to announce that following a successful and rigorous conclusion to the Staffordshire CC Search Process over the last few months, I have appointed today a new County Commissioner for Staffordshire .
Mrs. Jackie Brocklehurst is well known across the County in various guises and where she has been exceptionally passionate about the Cub Scout Section since joining The Scout Movement approaching 50 years ago!
Jackie has been exceptionally active in a number of supporting and line manager roles within Staffordshire Scouts, most recently in Potteries North Scout District where Jackie had been District Commissioner for over 7 Years (until this Summer), and continues to hold active roles within the Staffordshire County as Local Training Manager, Assistant County Commissioner (Cub Scouts), and at her most recent challenge, at the 69th Church Lawton & Scholar Green Cub Scout Pack as “Akela”.
Not content with this, Jackie has been particularly supportive of wider County Events, and most recently, ‘Starred’ in the Burdi Boys Gang Show where Mitchell Arts Centre, Stoke-on-Trent hosted another brilliant Gang Show, Nationally recognised, for its West End standard of performance, with the twist of Scouting’ magic running throughout the show.
I am really thrilled that Jackie has so enthusiastically accepted the County Commissioner appointment and will be starting her new role with immediate effect for the next 3 years or so.
With such an active and passionate advocate of Scouting, I am sure that Staffordshire Scouting will continue to thrive and flourish under Jackie, and Team Staffordshire Scouts focus of The Scout Movements’ values, ideals, and beliefs embedded in everything that the Scouting Team shines a spotlight on.
Please join me in welcoming Jackie to her latest exciting new role. I ask you all to support Jackie and the various County/District Leadership teams up and down the County as we now start the processes of transition in continuing to deliver The Scout Association’s Vision of growth, development (and beyond) which are essential elements to Scouting’s future direction. I have seen first-hand that there has been a great spirit of team work with people stepping up, helping colleagues and a great sharing of knowledge and expertise and that this augers well for the future of Scouting in Staffordshire. Please continue this great support for one another.
Finally, may I take this opportunity to wish everyone a Happy New Year and all the very best for your Scouting challenges throughout 2018.
Yours in Scouting
Dan Potter
