After an extensive and comprehensive national volunteer appointment process, I am pleased to announce that Richard Williams has accepted the role of County Commissioner for Staffordshire Scout County effective from 1st January 2023.
I would like to thank Jackie Brocklehurst who will have completed 5 years of service as County Commissioner and will retire from her role at the end of this month.
Jackie has led Staffordshire in one of the Movement’s most challenging chapters. Jackie has been relentless in supporting young people’s opportunities and enabling volunteers alike. Jackie has steered Staffordshire Scouts through the huge challenges presented by the pandemic COVID-19 and has led Staffordshire’s plan to deliver better futures through our strategic vision Skills for Life – whilst also being one of the long- standing key cast members of Burdi Boys – Potteries North Scout Gang show.
Thank you for your tireless passion and enthusiasm.
Jackie is already in discussion with Richard regarding handover and continuing support over December which again I would like to thank her for.
Richard is excited and eager to get to know members throughout the County at various up-and-coming events and has already spent time in his role as County Chair meeting both County, District and Group members talking about the Transformation journey we have embarked on as a Movement sharing our North Star ambition of supporting more young people to gain #skillsforlife.
When initial visits are complete in a few months, Richard will confirm his County team, and the intention is to hold various discussions and consultations as widely as possible and to take as many views and suggestions into account for the future chapter of the Staffordshire Scout County.
Please join me in congratulating Richard, and thanking Jackie for her service, as I am sure we all wish both Jackie and Richard well in their new Scouting chapters and will give them our generous support through this initial transition.
Yours in Scouting
Dan Potter
Regional Commissioner – West Midlands
